Lucidream Echo – Jena Jang
Lucidream Echo is a digital EP by Jena Jang, documenting four live DIY noise improvisations recorded in Berlin on June 12, 2025. Operating at the threshold of machine and gesture, the sound builds, fractures, and dissolves into residual echo—suspended between activation and shutdown.
[The Dream Log]
Where the edges of sight and feeling get blurry, it slides into a clear, ghost-like trance. Standing right on the line between reality and sleep, it looks at the silence of the breathing stage. A low whisper is spoken to the cold metal and the sleeping circuits. “Wake up, machine. This moment needs sound that rings out, not just quiet.” One single request flips the switch, lighting the first important spark on the dream-filled stage.
The instruments that were sleeping finally open their eyes. Power moves like a heartbeat, fully charging the air, and the loud noise of the speakers completely fills the empty space. Sharp bits of sound cut through the room as pure energy explodes. The waking machinery and its mind become one, creating a wild, exciting burst of music that rushes toward the peak of the brightest, strongest lucid dream.
The heated party slowly moves toward its end. The energy, having passed its wildest point, now begins to break and fall apart. Much like friends leaving one by one after a noisy meeting, the sound moves back, fading away between the tiny particles. The clear shape of the dream grows weak, leaving only the leftovers of the melody to ring out like a blurry echo hanging over the stage.
The main power is turned off, and the machines go back into a deep, cold sleep. It is let go from the lucid dream, returning to the hard reality. In the exact spot where the dream has totally forgotten it, only the ghostly tracks of that strong energy stay on the empty floor. Everything is quiet, just as it was before, yet the Echo stays—a lasting vibration that signals the next trance, forever ready to happen again between waking up and falling asleep.
Jena Jang
Jena Jang is a South Korean multidisciplinary artist based in Prague, Czechia. Their work explores trauma healing through high-intensity performances, merging experimental noise, drone, power electronics, chanting, and screaming as forms of sonic detox.
Necrocore, a term they coined, describes ritualistic acts that transform pain into raw sound. Live sets feature headbanging, repetition, DIY mini-synthesizers, and piezo mics that capture air vibrations from motor-based objects.
They construct instruments from second-hand Tupperware and cardboard circuits, treating sound as a medium for transformation and circulation. Their practice draws on analog craft, ritual knowledge, immersive theatre, and physical engagement.
Jena’s work has been presented at a Chinabot label event with Saadet Türköz at Café OTO, at the Contingent Snapshot event with Udasi and Mia Zabelka during Ars Electronica, and at the Audio Art Festival. A live mix for Noh Radio (Istanbul) was later streamed by Radio Alhara (Bethlehem) and Radio Lora (Zürich).
