This album is the result of the fusion of two highly appreciated projects from recent years. On one hand, the “Proyecto Calvino” (Calvino Project), inspired by Italo Calvino’s posthumous work Six Memos for the Next Millennium. This project brings together five beloved and admired composers—Nicolás Rodríguez, Ezequiel Esquenazi, Lucía Drochi, Facundo Llompart, and Jorge Sad Levi. Invited to immerse themselves in Calvino’s writing, they used some of the six literary values proposed by the author as their starting point. From their unique perspectives, five pieces were born, created for flutes, electronics, and visuals.

On the other hand, this album features two works that hold deep personal significance for me. These pieces were premiered in Argentina during the “Nuevas Músicas por la Memoria” (New Music for Memory) festival. Written by the talented composers Daniel Teruggi and Nicolás Kliwadenko, they complete a brief journey through contemporary music from Argentina and Latin America.

Flutist, improviser, and educator based in Buenos Aires, Andrea Escobar explores and navigates the diverse soundscapes of flutes. Andrea is dedicated to the dissemination and promotion of new music by Argentine and Latin American composers from various aesthetic approaches within the fields of mixed and acoustic music. She specializes in performing works composed especially for her, with a strong emphasis on experimentation with electronic and visual technologies and collaborative work with each composer.
