EGON – Lazar Darkovski
Skopje, Macedonia based experimental artist in the realms of music and visual art. From early age discovered the passion for percussion that led to playing drums with various bands and contributing to countless musical projects.
Lazar has a profound affinity for the visual arts. Inspired by the ambient and ethereal tones of dark ambient music, ventured into the realm of painting. His unique style paintings known as “Linescapes” emerged as symbiosis of acrylic paint and sound.
As He continued to evolve creatively, the piano found its way into his life. He began composing guided by the soundscapes of the dark ambient music, weaving in electronic elements to craft immersive compositions. This musical exploration resulted in recording his first album “Melos “, self-released in 2021, which blends haunting piano melodies with intricate electronic sounds.
His second album “Karpa Mrak “released by Kalamine Records in 2023, featuring dark ambient compositions performed with piano and samples, is captivating the listeners with its brooding intensity and cinematic quality. Elektramusic is releasing his third album “ EGON”.
Album “ EGON“ REVIEW:
The seven-track opus, “EGON”, released 12/2024 by Elektramusic, builds upon the foundations laid by its two predecessors, “Melos” 2021 and “Karpa-Mrak” 2023, further exploring the delicate interplay between acoustic piano harmonies and intricate electronic textures.
At the heart of the album lies the piano, its harmonies simple yet profoundly evocative. The melodies, often sparse and restrained, create a sense of intimacy and vulnerability. These moments feel like fragments of memory, suspended in time, their emotional weight amplified by the carefully constructed electronic backdrops. The piano lines are neither virtuosic nor overly embellished; instead, they embrace a purity that allows the listener to connect deeply with the music.
The electronic elements, on the other hand, are a study in contrast and complement. Delicate clicks, whirrs, and static interweave with shimmering synth pads, creating a complex yet discreet sonic environment. These electronic sounds act as both a counterpoint and a support system for the piano, resulting in an atmosphere that is both expansive and introspective. Tracks often transition seamlessly, blurring the boundaries between compositions and creating a cohesive listening experience that feels almost cinematic.
The album’s opening track sets the tone with a shimmering piano motif that unfurls slowly, enveloped by electronic textures. It feels like stepping into a dream, where every note and texture are deliberately placed to evoke a sense introspection. The layering here is subtle but undeniably complex, a hallmark of the album’s approach.
As the record progresses, Lazar Darkovski demonstrates an exquisite balance between simplicity and sophistication. EGON is modern ambient album, a work that is as much about texture and atmosphere as it is about melody and harmony.
Ultimately, this album is a testament to the artist’s growth and his ability to evoke profound emotion through minimal means .This is an album that demands to be experienced in its entirety, a journey through a world of sound that is as fragile as it is beautiful.
