Chants – Luciano Laterra

Chants is the second studio solo album by Chilean composer Luciano Laterra, where he continues his exploration of complex polyrhythms applied to the piano. In this work, Laterra delves into the creation of rhythmic groupings that unfold within a mantra-like context, generating an atmosphere of intimacy and organicity. The album also stands out for incorporating the physical sounds of the piano’s mechanisms and wood, adding an additional percussive layer that enriches the sonic texture, which is processed on tape—all within the framework of minimal music.

Composer, pianist, and music producer, Luciano Laterra is a researcher of rhythm in contemporary music and the piano. He has released two solo albums and has collaborated as a producer, composer, and performer on over 20 albums, EPs, and works by various Chilean and international artists, all connected to musical experimentation, contemporary dance, and audiovisual art.
